Lincoln man charged with assaulting woman, breaking and entering

LINCOLN ― Police arrested an 18-year-old man Saturday evening after they say he smashed the window of a man’s Parker Street home.

Officers responded to the area at around 5:30 p.m. and found the suspect, later identified as Jared Yankee, of Lincoln, shirtless and wearing flannel pants, according to a news release from police Capt. Philip Gould.

Yankee had smashed a window of the Parker Street home and grabbed a woman who was sitting on a couch next to the window, according to the release. The two struggled until the woman was able to break away from his grasp. Yankee proceeded to pace around the front yard, yelling loudly, the police said.

When the police confronted him, Yankee refused to comply with verbal commands and acted aggressively towards officers, leading them to force Yankee to the ground, according to the release. After a period of resisting, officers were able to secure him with restraints, it said.

The woman was evaluated and treated by a Lincoln rescue crew at the scene, according to the release.

Yankee was been with breaking and entering of a dwelling of a person over 60, simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Following his arraignment, Yankee was taken to Landmark Medical Center for evaluation.
